SWEET FRIENDSHIP
"Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awakes our hearts with joy, for good friends are like the anointing oil that yields the fragrant incense of
God's presence. "
Proverbs 27:9 TPT
What an encouragement! 💙🇺🇸
At the We CARE Vet Fair, our table was overflowing with Veterans
In the middle of it all, our sweet neighbor and colleague, Elizabeth captured a video of encouragement that truly touched our hearts. Her words reminded us why we do this — to keep showing up, to keep loving on our Veterans with hugs, friendship, and a listening ear.
Moments like this empower us to keep moving forward in our mission.
Did you know? You’re not alone in feeling alone.
We are physically, emotionally, and spiritually hardwired by God for relationships. Our souls crave authentic connections. Yet, loneliness is rampant—and its consequences are serious. According to a study by Duke University, 24 veterans commit suicide every day, and an additional 20 die daily due to overdose. Loneliness is a major contributor to anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In fact, research shows that loneliness can be worse for our health than obesity, smoking, or physical inactivity.
At Let’s Be Friends Community, our active and passionate members focus on supporting women and men veterans and their families in NW Georgia. But our mission goes beyond veterans: there is a greater need to grow genuine, lasting friendships in every community.
God put this dream in our hearts: to step out in faith and reach a diverse local community—churchgoers and non-churchgoers, newcomers and long-term residents of all ages—in a politically safe environment. A place to develop new face-to-face friendships and do life together.
Even with modern technology—cell phones, texts, social media, FaceTime, X, Zoom—we still face a relational deficit. Despite being more “connected” than ever, people feel more isolated, sometimes not even knowing their neighbors. Our community strives to change that by fostering a culture of positive connections and teaching the art of friendship. That’s what friends are for.
Our community is open to everyone who wants to practice friendship and learn from the greatest Friend of all: Jesus. By following His example, we have a roadmap to grow, connect, and bless one another. At Let’s Be Friends Community, our mission is simple: Love God. Love People. Love Country.
We believe in the power of friendship and meaningful connection. Our goal is not to grow social media followers—it is to create a loving, diverse community where strong and lasting friendships thrive, guided by our four core values. Our “Re-Discover the Art of Friendship” program helps participants practice and apply these values in everyday life. We are here for all our lonely friends and neighbors, offering a supportive place to build face-to-face connections.
It takes time. It takes change. It takes you.
We invite you to explore our website to learn more about social opportunities, monthly meetups, and ways to get involved in this journey of making friends while making a difference. Together, we can foster positive growth—individually and as a community. Together, we can combat loneliness and build deep, meaningful connections.
Whether you’re seeking local resources, want to volunteer, meet new friends, or simply have a place to belong and socialize once a month, we are here for you.
We look forward to meeting you, collaborating with you, and developing meaningful friendships together.
At Let's Be Friends Community, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality community support. We approach each friend with compassion, respect, and empathy, and strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.
